Marine Board Seeks Public Comment to Extend WED Zone on Lower Willamette River

         The Oregon State Marine Board received a petition on September 20, requesting that the Marine Board open rulemaking to amend OAR 250-020-0385, Boat Operations in Yamhill and Marion Counties.
            The petition proposes to extend the no wake enhancing device zone upstream from the Hwy 219 Bridge at RM 48.5 to RM 50 at the old Newberg-St. Paul Bridge crossing.
The existing rule was adopted in 2008 and prohibits the use of wake enhancing devices on the Willamette River from the Hwy 219 Bridge at RM 48.5 to the upper end of Willow Island at RM 31.5.  Additionally, boat operation at slow-no wake speed is required within 100 feet of private docks, boathouses or moorages.
