OSPS E-News ~ Oregon Savings Growth Plan Open House

[Announcements from OSPS to the users of the Oregon State Payroll Application]

Mark your calendars!  To observe National Save for Retirement Week, the
Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP) will hold an open house on Thursday,
October 23, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Archives Building at 800
Summer Street in Salem.  Staff will be on hand to answer your questions
and help you complete enrollment forms.  Snacks will be provided and
door prizes awarded.  If you work in the area, we hope to see you there.

 

As a state employee, you are automatically eligible to enroll in OSGP, a
voluntary 457(b) plan that offers low fees and diverse investment
options, including the new LifePath(r) funds that are designed to
provide an investment strategy appropriate to your age and expected
retirement date.

 

If you already participate in OSGP, this may be a good time to increase
your contribution or change your contribution from a dollar amount to
percentage of pay. That way, with any future salary increases, your
deferral will automatically increase. If you are not currently
participating, this is your opportunity to start saving for the future.
You can save tax deferred, which means a tax savings for you at the end
of the year. You may also be eligible for the Tax Saver's Credit; for
