[Department of Corrections]

The Oregon Department of Corrections invites interested professionals to apply for the position of Budget Manager which exists within the Chief Financial Office. Successful candidates must possess the collaboration skills required to work effectively with the institution management teams, staff labor unions, and community and private sector partners. This employment opportunity is located in Salem. The recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants.

You must be a current, permanent employee (contractors and temporary employees are not included) of a State of Oregon agency.

The successful candidate will become part of the Department's management team.

This position acts in concert with the Chief Financial Officer in being responsible for the development, implementation, continuous monitoring and the improvement of the agency's budgeting processes and systems. This includes managing a team of budget professionals that perform all facets of budget development for the agency's $1.6 billion budget across General Fund, Other Fund, and Federal Fund revenue sources. Also included are budget allocation activities across all divisions and business units, maintenance and creation of complex mathematical models, scenario pricing, fiscal impact statement creation providing fiscal training and consultative services to agency leadership, initiating accurate appropriated allotment requests, providing financial projections, costing and managing savings initiatives, and ensuring that financial budgeting and accounting systems are accurate and updated in a timely manner.

  *   ARE A CURRENT, PERMANENT EMPLOYEE (contractors and temporary employees are not included) of a State of Oregon agency; AND HAVE
  *   four years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules, and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation.

OR

  *   three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation; and 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.
