OSPS E-News ~ 2018 W4 Information

Announcements from OSPS to the users of the Oregon State Payroll Application osps-news at listsmart.osl.state.or.us

Good Morning,

This is a reminder that Exempt W-4 forms expire; please review your E370-06-1 report that will be available with your quarterly in January. The 2018 W4 will available on the OSPS website as soon as it is available on the IRS website. http://www.oregon.gov/das/Financial/Payroll/Pages/forms.aspx

By February 15, payroll offices need to request a new Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate, from each employee who claimed exemption from income tax withholding last year.

On February 16, any Form W-4 previously given to Payroll claiming exemption from withholding has expired and you should begin withholding by adding an entry to the P010 screen. If the employee does not give you a new Form W-4, withhold tax as if he or she is single, with zero withholding allowances. However, if you have an earlier Form W-4 for an employee that is valid, withhold based on the earlier Form W-4.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
