Dear payroll partners,

If you have an employee enrolled in IAP voluntary contributions (IAP VC) that is retiring, you must end their IAP VC when processing their termination. Retirees are not eligible to continue this deduction and adding the end date will prevent it from auto-deducting if they return to work as a retiree.

In this case you do not need to wait for a notification from CPERS to add an end date to the “pay component PERS – Voluntary Contributions”.

If the employee is terminating for a reason other than retirement, please do not end the IAP VC deduction. In cases other than retirement, it is appropriate for the deduction to start again if the employee is rehired.
