Queridos REFORMISTAS de Oregon,

   It is with great pleasure that I get to announce that our effort to become a Division of OLA has been successful!  OLA members overwhelmingly voted to grant our Division status request granting our President a voting seat on the Executive Board.   They also voted to make the EDI Anti-Racism Taskforce a permanent committee of the Oregon Library Association!  As many of you know, the Division status vote was supposed to take place at last year's OLA annual conference but was put on hold due to Covid.  It feels amazing to finally be able to bring this project to a close as we join the rest of Oregon's library leaders in the fight for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for all.


I also want to take a moment to thank all of YOU, our REFORMISTAS,  for being the driving force of our chapter.  The tremendous work you all do every day in demanding equity and representation for your communities and for your colleagues of color, makes a difference.  Your struggles do not go unnoticed;  your beautifully unique voices matter.  And I thank each and every one of you for leading the charge in this difficult work.  REFORMA Oregon would not be what it is today if not for all the heart and soul that you all put into your work.  Thank you for making our chapter amazing.



I would also like to congratulate Marci Ramiro-Jenkins on her nomination for OLA Vice-President/President elect!  I could be wrong, but in my years in OLA I don't believe I have seen a REFORMISTA nominated to lead the Executive Board.  Congratulations on your nomination-you deserve it!


I really wish we could have been able to celebrate this historic moment together.  Sitting alone in my office, I was very much missing the strength, love and energy that I get from being with you all.  I can't wait until we can meet in person and properly celebrate this accomplishment.  Until then, un abrazo a la distancia.

It has been an honor to serve as your President and I am proud to be a part of this group.
