Check out this new professional development opportunity for medical
professionals designed and led by Dr. David Cardona, MPH. Cardona who
specializes in medical translation and brings over 18 years of experience
as a leading translator for Oregon Health and Science University and the
state of Oregon.

If you or someone in your organization is seeking medical translation
training, two courses will be hosted this October in Portland, Ore. that
will explore Latino cultural perspectives on health care and the
professional standards of interpreting practice.

*Intermediate Spanish for Health Care

* Designed for conversational speakers, this course allows participants to
develop essential clinical Spanish skills to conduct an initial patient
interview when an interpreter is not available.

*When:* Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 and Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2013 from 5:30
p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
*Where:* Oregon Health and Science University

*Advanced Spanish for Health Care

* Created for native and fluent speakers established in the health care
industry, this course covers specific vocabulary necessary in various areas
of medical practice. Discover the current and federal state laws governing
health care service for limited English-proficient speakers. *Prerequisite
required.

*When:* Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26 and Nov. 2, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
