Hi, Krista,

Such wonderful news! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. Maybe your little girl will be born on the same day I was in June (the 3rd)!
So sorry you won't be at the CSLP Annual Meeting but I think you have a really good reason for not attending! Can't wait to meet her at some future CSLP Annual Meeting.

~Sharon

Hello Friends,

To piggy back on Jasmine's comment, I just went through this process myself, with the assistance of Karen Day at CSLP. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend this year's conference because it coincides with our state's annual public library conference, which I serve on the planning committee. I simply approached my Division Director with a list of names of librarians who I thought would best represent our state, and lucky enough, the first person I approached accepted the offer. It also helps that she is familiar with CSLP, as she has worked on the children's program manual for several year.

Not to side track or deter from Kate's question-

Also complicating my travel schedule this year, is a special addition to our family. I am expecting my first child, a girl, in June. So, now you all know why I may have been a little "sensitive" during my Symposium presentation or not partaking of the bourbon in Louisville, lol! Hopefully she will be able to join me at future CSLP meetings.

As we get closer to the date, I will introduce KY's Proxy, Laura Stanfield, on the listserv so that she can identify friendly and ready to help names/faces.

Enjoy Denver,
~Krista

Hi Kate,

Just about any of us could be your proxy. I am going and would be happy to fill in for you.

But I'd like to float this idea by you before you designate a non-Tennessean to vote for your state. If there is a librarian in your state who is also a strong youth services leader or someone currently on a CSLP committee, you can designate that person to have your state rep room and the travel stipend. That person could also be your proxy. I have done this before when I was on the board so I could have someone else from my state attending (though I was still the official state rep and did the voting). Just a thought!

Best,
Jasmine

I'm not able to go to Denver this year - we are building a new State Library and Archives, so I have no complaints on limits on travel! - but I need someone to be my proxy vote for Tennessee. Anyone here willing to vote for me?
