[Erate] FY2005 SOEN contract appeal GRANTED by the FCC!

As many of you may remember, the Dept of Administrative Services applied for $1,224,775.83 in e-Rate discounts in FY2005. That application was denied due to the determination that some Letters of Agency were not obtained by DAS (when in fact they were). DAS immediately appealed the decision and for the last 4.5 years we have been waiting for the FCC to review the appeal and make their decision. Yesterday, the FCC announced that it was granting DAS's request for review (along with 10 other applicants), and remanded the application back to USAC for final review. The FCC agreed that DAS provided all the necessary LOA's and that the letters met all of the required criteria.

USAC has 120 days to review the application again, ask any other questions that they feel they need to, and make a final funding decision. This is a VERY positive step forward, but it could still be months before we know for sure if any of the funding can be recovered. At a time where budgets cuts seem to never end, this is potentially wonderful news!
