 *   Funding Status.  The application window for FY 2011 will open January 11th and close March 24th.  Wave 38 for FY 2010 will be released this week.
 *   Connect America Fund NPRM.  The FCC issued an extensive NPRM designed to modernize the Universal Service Fund which would include transitioning support for telephone service to broadband service.  The impact on E-rate is expected to be minor, but could lead to the elimination of discounts for basic telephone service.
 *   E-Rate Updates and Reminders.  Applicants planning to use paper versions of Forms 470/471 may be interested in type-in PDF versions available on the E-rate Central Web site.  Paper Form 470s should be mailed to the SLD no later than this week.  February 14th is the final deadline for applicants who received Form 486 Urgent Reminder Letters last month.
 *   Schools and Libraries News Brief dated February 11.  The most recent News Brief provides a number of reminders regarding Form 470 procurement and documentation procedures.
