Overview:  
This workshop provides participants with an overview of DSM-IV
diagnostic categories for children and adults, the assessment process
for arriving at diagnostic decisions, and how to translate accurate
diagnoses into effective treatment plans. This 12-hour workshop is
designed for mental health professionals in counseling, social work,
marriage and family therapy, psychology, and other related mental health
services.

Presenters:
Douglas C. Smith, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and faculty member in
the Department of Psychology at Southern Oregon University and a
Nationally Certified School Psychologist. He has extensive experience in
the areas of psychological assessment, school-based mental health
services, and child, adolescent, and family counseling.

Thomas A. Cummings, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice
in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has been a faculty member at the American School
of Professional Psychology, the University of Hawaii, and Hawaii Pacific
University.  He is a former President of the Hawaii Psychological
Association and was Director of Integrative Behavioral Health at the
Waimanalo Health Center.  He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment
of PTSD and other anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and
neuropsychology.

12 CEUs available: The SOU Psychology Department is recognized by the
National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education
for national Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC Continuing
Education Guidelines.
