Pretty sure Gordon is not a relative. Though I have not traced his line. [Just looked him up on the 1930 Census for Bend, Deschutes, Oregon.] His father Clyde was born in Wisconsin and he was born in Minnesota. No chance whatever that he is related. At least not in this country. Clyde McKay's father was born in Scotland.
My line goes to John McKay who came to the Oregon county with the Hudson Bay Company in 1829 from Scotland. He married a woman of the Colville area. She was the castoff, widow, ex-wife, whatever of Francis Herron a Chief Factor of the Hudson Bay Company who had been stationed at Fort Colvile and was then sent to Fort Nisqually.
John McKay was at Nisqually when they arrived.
John's wife, Josephte Boucher, was the daughter of Josephte Kanthopisa, a full blood; and a voyager Jean Baptiste Boucher. As a widow John's mother-in-law married Joachim Hubert who also settled at French Prairie.
Some of John and Josephte's children stayed with the white world and others enrolled on the reservations. Two of the boys lived at Colvile and one at Grande Ronde. One of the girl's lines ended up at Warm Springs.
Anyway I have not found a Gordon McKay anywhere in the line.

Hi Barb,
Do you know if the McKay's on your website are related to Gordon McKay the senator from the Bend area in the late 60's and early 70's? Gordon's parents were one of the early settlers of the Bend area. The city had a nice bronze plaque at the lake (before the remodeling) honoring the family.
Thanks,
Ronda Howard

My resolution for the New Year is to get this website updated. Most importantly I need a new front page.
The site is graphics intensive so will load slowly for anyone with a slow modem.
The first step in updating the thing is to make sure I have a correct address for it.
