If you haven't found the newspaper clippings at history.coquillevalley.org
(click on old news files from this link), there are presently 134 webpages
worth of clippings that you can search (about 20 typed pages to each web
page). They cover primarily Coos county from around 1900, but there are a
few other papers from other areas as well. Even these Coos county newspapers
would run articles from other areas, such as the Roseburg papers of the
time. While I wish every article was transcribed, or even that a
comprehensive index was done for these papers, not so as yet. That said, the
clippings that are online are indexed via the search option on these pages.
I've found a ton of interesting stories and a lot of information some
times - other times I've come up empty. I've always found a good story even
if it wasn't the one I was looking for. There are other clippings on the
Coos county rootsweb site that I hope to merge with these for an even more
extensive list.
