Does anyone know where the Kincaid donation claim about four miles south and east of Eugene's City was in June of 1888?
Gregory Toftdahl mailed me the article on David Watkins death that was in the Oregon State Journal...in this article is mentioned that after Watkins and his family settled on the Siuslaw and were run off by squatters, they moved to the Kindcaid donation. He died there within a short time after settling on the Kincaid claim.
"He went to bed in the little log house on the south side of the hill and never left it until his body was taken out by kind neighbors in a winding sheet and placed in the tomb" Very poetic of the times.
His family was not mentioned by name.
Also, is there any diary or records of the Reverend C. M. Hill of Eugene who was a Baptist minister in this era?
Watkins was buried in the Masonic Cemetery.
Thanks, Diane
