Nancy,

The Oregon Historical Society located in downtown Portland, Oregon has a complete listing of Oregon Cemeteries and who is buried in each cemetery. In my case my grandfather and great uncle listed their parents as mom and dad. (This is normally not a problem except both of my great grandparents divorced and remarried and one of them divorced again.) I am still working on that one. This may save you a trip to Keizer. Also there is a project to digitly photograph completely every cemetery and have the pictures available on line.

Carol & all,

Yes, lots of James McCubbins there. I go to that site often & I just did a few minutes ago, clicked on your link & I did notice more McCubbin/McCubbins listed, but didn't find mention of a burial.

I think my next plan is first to drive & walk the Claggett Cemetery in Keizer & then go to Lee Mission Cemetery..Salem Pioneer like Denise mentioned that's where her family was buried in same time frame. Gary has it right on too.. he wrote >>> your family could well be in the claggett cem. i have never trusted the internet and have never taken anything from it. it does, however, give you an idea where to start. good luck and tramp that cem.<<< and that's what I'm going to do, I love walking though old cemeteries, reading the names & dates. my husband isn't into it at all, but he is patient will me, goes along & helps me look for my family. He drives the car as we have to drive from St. Helens, OR to Keizer which really isn't that far.. but yet it is..

You have all helped me greatly in my search for his grave, now I have lots of idea's, a plan,
THANKS to you all & cemeteries to walk : )

Thank You ! Nancy

Nancy....

You may have already checked Family Search. There is a James McCubbins listed in the Ancestral File Individual Record. If you click on Details it tells who submitted it and gives their address. Maybe they have info. on where he is buried. Here's the link to the page of the Individual Record.

Hi Les,

Thanks, I have checked all the Salem Pioneer cemeteries I could find.. to no avail.
But, I did just a few minutes ago come across this, (Keizer's only burial ground) very interesting reading.

History of Clagget Cemetery
If the ghost of those who rest at Claggett Cemetery could talk, what stories they
... This small, cemetery; (Keizer's only burial ground) is located off of ...

Nancy;

It would seem there isn't a Keizer cemetery, best guess I could give you
would be Salem Pioner, but no Mccubbins listed there.

you can find a list of most of the cemeteries in Marion county there, I
assume they are listed by location also and you should be able to find those
closest to Keizer as possibilities. I checked the USGS topo maps and found
no indication of any cemetery in the Keizer area.

Hello,

Does anyone know the names & locations of cemeteries that were in use in
1877 in the Keizer, OR area? I ask this because I was just told that North
Salem is now known as the town of Keizer, OR. So, since my ggg-Grandfather
James McCubbins died there Sept. 6, 1877 he just may be in one of those
cemeteries? I can't find much on-line for cemeteries in or around Keizer,
OR.

Thanks! Nancy
