I don't know when you mentioned using the info as training aids to
get info from the State Archives. Were you considering going to
Salem to personally check at the Archives or were you wanting to
know how to contact them by e-mail or phone?
*http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/tour/services.html This link to their
website will give you info on contacting them and what the fees are for
obtaining a copy. You will find that the staff at the Oregon State
Archives are very helpful.*
This is the kind of info you need in requesting from the Oregon
State Archives, certificate #, county and date of death or case #
for instance for the birth certificate. I believe the 1960
certificates are available through the Archives but the 1961
certificate is not 50 years old yet. Next year when Cora Baker's
death certificate is available, hopefully that would have info on
her maiden name.
This may not be your James Baker who married in Lane County, 20 May
1914. The names of both spouses are not included together on the
Oregon Marriage Index, however neither of the two ladies in the list
who were married in Lane County that date were named Cora. Someone
has a tree posted on ancestry who shows his wife is Cora McGuire.
*This possibly/probably is your James A. Baker and this record is
available through the State Archives, the evidence provided to prove his
date of birth and have a delayed birth certificate issued.
