  Nancy, in the book Imentioned in my previous message, I found it had a map of Salem with the streets.  The lots threw me--where Google placed it was really far in the country--no development other than large acreages.  In North Salem, which was JUST north of downtown Salem today, block #24, Lots 7 and 8, are on Front Street, the first street off the Willamette River.  The cross street is Union on the north and probably Marion on the south--the westbound bridge over the Willamette is a continuation of Marion Street.  Chances are this area was heavily flooded over the years--so some history work on Google for Willamette flooding in Salem.  This is no longer a residential area--Front Street is rather run-down--lumber yard, cannery, etc.  I have friends at the Marion County Artchives--just attended a program given by them at our genealogical Society meeting last month--with a name I'll see what I can do!  they are located not far from that area.

You know I typed in Lots # 7 # 8, in block # 24 North Salem, OR. on Google & came up with this address of the 'Big Lots store' in 4040 NE Market St, Salem, OR. 97301 on those lots maybe, I wonder if that could be his land.. Now Im wondering what the nearest cemetery would be to 'Big Lots', lol Nancy

    Salem Archives my have the land records or Sanborn Fire Maps possibley could show the Property,
    IS there a death record or certificate or newspaper notice that might show where he is buried they were not common
    at that time but it could be a chance, also check, Find A Grave and the Oregon Gravestone Project.

    I found my 3rd Ggrandfather's Will today. Had to look for it for a while because I had put it away in bins. I am wondering if someone could help me on a map where his property was in 1877, NORTH Salem, Lots # 7 # 8, in block # 24, NORTH Salem? I still can not find his grave & maybe he is buried on the land.
