Port and City of Coos Bay Receive Marine Board Grants

The Port of Coos Bay (Charleston) and the City of Coos Bay both were awarded boating facility grants from the Marine Board at their quarterly meeting in Salem on April 28.

The Port of Coos Bay applied for, and received, a grant to replace an existing pumpout and sewer line at “G” dock, with a combination pumpout and dump station, a remote monitoring system and a new sewer line. The Port will also add a remote monitoring unit to the recently installed pumpout at the transient tie-up location. The Board approved $10,050 in state boater funds, $30,150 in Clean Vessel Act funds and $1,800 in applicant in-kind contributions for a project total of $42,000.

The City of Coos Bay applied for, and received, a grant to replace the existing pumpout and dump station located on the city dock on Coos Bay in downtown, with a new combination pumpout/dump station. The new unit will include a remote monitoring system.

Pumpout/dump stations are important pieces of equipment for boaters to help boaters discharge their waste and help keep our waterways clean.
