Clackamas County Receives Facility Grant

Clackamas County was awarded a boating facility grant from the Marine Board at their quarterly meeting in Salem on April 28.

Clackamas County applied for, and received, a grant to replace an existing pumpout and dump station at Boone’s Ferry on the Willamette River with a new combination pumpout/dump station. The new unit will include a remote monitoring system and utilities. The Board approved $13,750 in state boater funds and $41,250 in Clean Vessel Act funds with $2,750 of in-kind contributions, for a project total of $57,750.

The Willamette River is the second most used waterbody in Oregon. The site is located in the upper end of the Newberg pool above Willamette Falls. The nearest pumpout is located below the falls at Jon Storm Park in Oregon City.

Floating restrooms and pumpout/dump stations are important to have available to boaters because they encourage proper waste disposal and help keep our waterways clean.
