Port of Siuslaw Receives Three Boating Facility Grants

The Port of Siuslaw was awarded three boating facility grants from the Marine Board at their quarterly meeting in Salem on April 28.

The Port of Siuslaw applied for, and received, three grants to: replace existing boarding floats located at the Port ramp on the Siuslaw River, resurface and restripe the existing parking area adjacent to the Port ramp, and replace the existing pumpout and dump station.

The Port will replace the existing boarding floats located at the Port ramp with seven new boarding floats, three new steel piles and will reconstruct one concrete abutment. The Board approved $75,000 in state boater funds combined with $20,500 in applicant cash and $4,500 of in-kind contributions for a project total of $100,000.

Additionally, the parking area adjacent to the Port ramp will be resurfaced and restriped. Grant dollars will also be used to install security lights and signs. The Board approved $54,000 in state boater funds combined with $15,800 in applicant cash and $2,200 of in-kind contributions for a project total of $72,000.

Finally, the Port will replace the existing pumpout and dump station with a new unit, complete with a remote monitoring system, similar to the unit on the pumpout/dump station installed on the transient tie-up. The Board approved $11,500 in state boater funds combined with $34,500 in federal Clean Vessel Act funds for a project total of $46,000.
