Washington County Marine Patrol Honored for Services to Boaters

[cid:image004.png at 01CB7C30.3ACB5670]                The Washington County Marine Patrol was recognized with a prestigious award for one of its marine deputies -the Deputy of the Year award for a seasonal program.  The award was presented for efforts during the 2010 boating season at the Marine Board's annual Law Enforcement Conference held in Bend, on October 19.
[cid:image006.png at 01CB7C30.3ACB5670]                Deputy Jerry Roley received the Deputy of the Year award in recognition of his contributions to marine law enforcement.  Deputy Roley conducted 619 boat examinations, issued six citations and 170 warnings, and conducted 16 hull inspections.
                "Thank you, Deputy Jerry Roley, for all you do within the marine patrol unit and for the boaters of Oregon," said Marty Law, Boating Safety Program Manager for the Marine Board.  "Congratulations for a job well done."
                The Marine Patrol Unit also received the Public Education Award for their contribution to Oregon's Boater Education Program.  The marine patrol conducted 30 boater education classes educating 3,022 students.  "Their education and outreach in the community is stellar," said Law.
