OSPS E-News ~ SFMA OSPA and Datamart Functionality - What's missing?

Announcements from OSPS to the users of the Oregon State Payroll Application osps-news at listsmart.osl.state.or.us

Hello Everyone,

Just a reminder that we have scheduled some meetings to learn what
functionality agencies are looking for in our financial system, data
mart and payroll system that is not available today. Please see the
meeting schedule below.

If you have already signed up for a meeting, thanks and we look forward
to seeing you there! If you would like to sign up to attend one of the
sessions, please me know which one(s) you plan to attend. If you have
an interest in attending one of the SFMA sessions, please contact Joy
Sebastian to let her know your planned attendance.

We are working on a provision for minimal call-in capabilities. Please
let me know which session you are interested in conferencing in. We
realize the real value of these meetings is the interaction, but we also
know that some agencies are not located in the Salem area and cannot
commit the travel time.

We look forward to your participation in these meetings.

Hello Everyone,

SFMS, SARS and OSPS are partnering to learn from agencies the answers to
the following questions:

What functionality are agencies looking for in a financial system,
datamart, and payroll system that they do not have today?

We are excited about the opportunities and directions the answers to
this question will provide us. We do not have additional resources, but
we may be able to find creative ways to meet your needs. We are ready
for the challenge.

We have scheduled three meetings as follows:

Novice* 1:30 to 4:30 on 4/28 in DAS Exec
Building, Conference Room A

Expert** 1:30 to 4:30 on 5/3 in DAS Exec
Building, Conference Room A

Manager*** 1:30 to 4:30 on 5/10 in DAS Exec
Building, Conference Room A

The meetings will be broken into three distinct sections

                                1:30 - 2:30 SFMA discussions

                                2:30 - 3:30 Datamart discussions

                                3:30 - 4:30 OSPS discussions

Agency staff will only be expected to attend the section or sections
that are relevant.

The meetings objectives are to accurately capture agencies' suggestions
regarding the less than ideal functionalities of the systems. Follow-up
meetings or communications will be sent to assure we heard you correctly
and then to discuss options for solutions.

SCD wants to extend a special thank you to Catherine Webber who has
graciously volunteered her time to be the neutral third party and to
help us be successful with this project.

*For the purposes of these meetings a novice is defined as a State of
Oregon employee that has been using the system for one to five years.
It is important for us to capture the kinds of data entry and other
related challenges you experience.

**For the purposes of these meetings an expert is defined as a State of
Oregon employee that has been using the system for more than five years
and is performing complex transactions. We want to know what types of
transactions or reporting mechanisms create the most stress for you and
why.

***For the purposes of these meetings a manager is responsible for the
work of others. We want to know what tools, reports, and/or screens
would make your life easier?

Please let me know the attendance plans for your agency.

Have a great day!
