OSPS E-News ~ OASDI 2% Employee 2011 Tax Reduction

[Announcements from OSPS to the users of the Oregon State Payroll Application]

Good morning,

OSPS has been receiving inquiries from agency payroll this week
regarding the 2% payroll tax reduction that is due to expire December
31, 2011.  As of today, extension of this employee tax reduction has not
been passed.  If Congress fails to pass an extension prior to December
Run 1 (December 27, 2011) the employee rate that will be applied for
December paid January will be 6.2%.

Should the extension be passed prior to December Run 2 we will update
the OSPA tax table to reflect the change back to 4.2% for the December
wages paid in January so they can be recomputed for the employee at that
time.
